Sekoma Island Lodge is situated on islands on the Mambova Rapids on the Zambezi River, Zambia, eighty kilometres upstream of the Victoria Falls. It is easily accessed by scheduled flights to Livingstone, Zambia or Kasane in Botswana.

Accommodation

The lodge accommodates sixteen guests in eight large tents on raised decks overlooking the river. Each tent is twin bedded, has en-suite facilities, and is furnished with a wardrobe, bedside pedestals and traditional directors’ chairs on private decks. For guests comfort and convenience the tents contain mosquito and insect repellent, as well as bottled water.

Facilities

The lodge blends into the riverside forest with panoramic views of the Zambezi River with the public areas consisting of a bar, lounge, and an open boma with al fresco dining.

Activities

Activities include fishing, birding, guided walks, motor boat excursions on the Zambezi River and cultural visits to Mambova Village.

The area is renowned for its excellent Tiger fishing as well as for other species such as Bream, mainly Nembwe, Thinface and Humpback, Redbreast and Three Spot Tilapia, Pink Happy, Sharptoothed Catfish and African Pike. Angling is conducted from boats, mokoro or the islands themselves. The best fishing season is after the receding flood in late May through to the advent of the following years flood in March. Sekoma maintains a very strict catch and release policy.
